SIDE QUESTS

SIDE QUESTS

Life is meant to be experienced, and thinking about adventures gets me excited. I wrote some of them down here so I can be inspired, reflect in the future, and maybe even inspire a couple others. Here is my list of side quests- things I think would be fun to do during my time on Earth, Lord willing.

  • Learn an instrument

    May 9, 2014

My grandpa gave me my first guitar when I was 12 and unbeknownst to both of us it grew into a collection, a love for music, a frequent mind clearer, and a way to worship Jesus.

  • Catch, fillet, cook, and eat a fish

    June 8, 2020

My grandpa loved fishing and would frequently take me on Lake Cumberland. This particular trip, we did all of the work from catch to eat on our own.

  • Snowboard

    February 15, 2021

Fell more times than I’d like to admit, but eventually made it down some slopes on a snowboard for the first time.

  • Attend March Madness

    March 30, 2021

The greatest tournament in all of sports. Attended two Elite Eight games (Gonzaga-USC and Michigan-UCLA) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Skydive

    June 6, 2021

Experienced a massive rush of adrenaline and a great view of the Rocky Mountains as I jumped out of a plane in Longmont, Colorado.

  • Live in a van

    January 1, 2022

In the summer of 2021, I converted a Ram Promaster into a tiny home on wheels with the help of my grandpa. I moved into it in 2022 and lived full time van life for two years while in college. See details on the build and my experience on the van life page.

  • Be on a jumbotron

    September 19, 2022

My college friends and I became jumbotron regulars at Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena through our frequent attendance of Tennessee football and basketball games.

  • Design a website

    March 15, 2023

Social media was proving to have a negative impact on my life and particularly my walk with Jesus. I deleted it in March of 2023 and wanted a place to be creative, write, and share adventures without the ability to scroll, compare, and count likes and views… so I designed this!

  • Earn a degree

    December 17, 2023

Graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics.

  • Trek the Himalayas

    January 3, 2024

While living in Nepal in 2024, I took many treks through the tallest mountain range in the world; including sights of Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu (the 1st, 3rd, and 5th tallest mountains on Earth).

  • Walk a suspension bridge

    January 15, 2024

During my time in the Himalayas, we often came upon suspension bridges to cross large river valleys… some sketchier than others.

  • Learn to play cricket

    January 22, 2024

My friends in Hyderabad, India took an afternoon to teach me the ins and outs of the second most popular sport in the world, a game that has always piqued my interest.

  • Visit ten countries

    March 16, 2024

I landed in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, and spent a week in Baler and Maria Aurora marking my 10th country visited. Click here to see the full list.

  • Attend a pig roast

    March 19, 2024

Out of all of my travels, I’d have to say the most unique cuisine I’ve had is in The Philippines. Famous for balut (fertilized duck egg), my Filipino friends also invited me to a pig roast… without mentioning I’d have to take a shift of spinning the bamboo!

  • Get a tattoo

    March 27, 2024

Now with more than 10, each of my tattoos tells a story. They give reminders about my identity and the things that have formed me. The one pictured above is a photo of my grandfather and I, one of the most influential people in my life.

  • Zipline

    April 18, 2024

One of the longest superman style ziplines in the world is in Nagarkot, Nepal; about an hour from where I lived for most of 2024. The two and a half minute ride was way above the hills on the outskirts of the Himalayan Mountains. I also ziplined once in Mayflower NP, Belize.

  • Read the entire Bible

    August 10, 2024

Read the Old Testament all the way through for the first time, finishing off the remaining books I hadn’t studied before. These words are living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword.

  • Get engaged

    August 24, 2024

Upon returning from Nepal, I asked Emilie to marry me in the park where we had one of our first dates. She was and still is way out of my league, but by God’s grace she agreed.

    October 9, 2024

Trail rode through Cades Cove in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park on horseback with my fiancée.

  • Airboat

    November 24, 2024

Rode an airboat through the untouched Florida Everglades, marking my tenth US National Park and first experience with wild alligators.

  • Buy a house

    December 13, 2024

My first big boy purchase was closing on a little house on a corner in Knoxville, Tennessee for my soon-to-be bride and I to move into. Slowly, with the help of family and friends, it became our first home.

  • Get married

    December 27, 2024

Stood before God, our families, and our friends in Franklin, Tennessee and married my best friend, Emilie Grace Christian. And I would choose you all over again.

  • Own a pet

    January 5, 2025

Emilie’s little guy, Cowboy, officially became “ours” upon returning from our honeymoon, and now he has a friend named Milkshake. I still rarely admit that I like cats- especially to my wife- but they’re pretty funny sometimes, and I built them their own house.

  • Be in a wedding

    January 11, 2025

It’s been an honor to play roles in some of the most important moments of my best friends’ lives. I was Cole’s best man two weeks after he was mine, officiated for Will, and have been a groomsman for Luke, Lucas, Turner, and Case.

  • See a drive-in movie

    February 13, 2026

Valentine’s Day Eve after celebrating our first year of marriage was a trip to the Cruze Farms drive-in. Pizza + Ice Cream + The Notebook = happy wife.
