Pandemonium.
Looking through my other posts, they all seem to be about bigger, more meaningful philosophical or theological ideas that really make you think. While these are important to me, they don’t tell the full story. I want this blog to be more representative of who I am; not that I don’t love those topics, just that I’m a pretty laid back kinda guy 98% of the time. I love Jesus more than anything in the world and topics that glorify His name, but I also love adventure, music, sports, laughter, my friends, sunrises, culture, good food, travel, and more. Today’s post, just for fun, will be about one of those topics- sports. The title “Pandemonium.” has a double meaning, referencing both this post being much different from the normal DMC (deep meaningful conversation) type post as well as the infamous call from the “Voice of the Vols” John Ward when Tennessee beat the Gators and rushed the field in their 1998 undefeated championship season (and repeated again in his memory as I rushed the field with 105,000 friends after knocking off Alabama in 2022, see picture).
Sports have always been a massive interest to me. The competition, the players, the fans, the atmospheres. On the Travel page under the Stadiums tab, you can find pictures from every MLB, NBA, NFL, and NCAA stadium that I’ve experienced a game at.
First in this just for kicks post, I will rank my favorite and least favorite teams across all sports and levels.
Favorites:
Tennessee Volunteers Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Softball
Cincinnati Reds (MLB)
Green Bay Packers (NFL)
Scottie Scheffler (PGA)
USA Cricket
Atlanta Braves (MLB)
Cincinnati Bengals (NFL)
Least Favorites:
Kentucky Wildcats Baseball, Basketball, and Football (not much of a threat to anyone in anything, this is mainly just because of my upbringing being surrounded by them)
Houston Astros (MLB)
Ohio State Buckeyes Football (minus CJ Stroud)
Florida Gators Baseball and Football (minus Tim Tebow)
Kansas City Chiefs (NFL)
Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball (But I do root for them in football and basketball out of pity)
Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB)
Dallas Cowboys (NFL)
Next, here are the best tournaments across all sports according to me:
March Madness + Final Four
College Baseball Postseason + College World Series
MLB Postseason + World Series
College Football Playoff + Bowl Games
The Masters
FIFA World Cup
College Softball Postseason + Women’s College World Series
World Baseball Classic
NFL Playoffs + Super Bowl
NBA Playoffs + Finals
This might be just a tad biased because baseball is my favorite sport, but it’s mainly based on how the postseasons are set up and how exciting it is- upsets, engagement, series or single games (and whether that’s needed), how you get in, etc.
This was fun to think about on a rainy day even if no one ever stumbles across it. Reach out for an explanation on anything or with your disagreements :)
